Wouldn't it be fun to know what goes on at Meyerson? Are these guys just making money off of the spread, or do they have "clients" that accumulate stock dumped by bored investors as they hold the ask steady? Is there any way to find out how many market makers there are for a given penny stock?
Zvi......... who's going to make the most money on this sucker, aside from me? :-)
The market makers, or a client? Also, if there are short positions in a given penny stock, is there a quiet period where covering occurs. That is, if the boredom is "leveraged" into an issue with shorts, is there a period at or near bottom where some or all of those shorts are quietly covered?
Also, is there any signal for when momentum is about to develop? I once received a cold call from a broker at A.R. Baron (I think that was the company, but I'm not certain...... the broker had a heavy accent). They offered me shares of Cypros at bid with no commission. Cypros released news, sort of fabricated news IMO, the next day. Investors had pocketed a cool 50% or so in one day. Could an individual manage to cover enough of the market makers for a given issue to "see" when the time has come?
Are there any good books on market manipulation? This is fun.
It seems that this is an opportunity for a good web-based business. If someone were to go on-line with a visible market, showing the size and prices of the bid and ask pools AND NOT TRADING FOR THEIR OWN ACCOUNT, I'd open an account with them.
