Hi Bonnie; The derivatives market has gotten so huge and underhanded that the investment bankers and even GreemSpam will say it's to complex to understand. Some how it goes for the most part unregulated, and we are taught that's as it should be. ------------- The simple understanding I have of it is that's it's a legal way to counterfeit money. While Jimmy Rogers and all can bitch about Government presses turning out phony money, and inflation things to high heaven, him and his cronies omit that derivatives are the systems way of inflating their own form of money faster than Governments can, and capturing the spread. But derivatives go much beyond that , they become a way to laundry dirty money as well. The more sophisticated of the untouchable organized criminal fraternities who operate primary offshore but with links to our so called respectable investment bankers use derivatives as a way to collect drug money , or any other type of clandestine operation, ( I write you some futures on some coffee I never intent to plant, you pay me for them knowing full well the deal, and then my shipment of drugs or guns goes to your friends. ) You can peddle the futures on the market or the FED will even exchange you some greenbacks using them as collateral, heck it's the best of both worlds. By the time any one finds out Coffee or Me Inc is a phony plantation located in the heart of an active volcano the trail to who created the futures will have vanished. The drug load, & gun merchant of an investment banker will cry I had no idea, and claim to be the victim. It happens almost every day and the world goes on. ---------------- As far as protecting assets and security goes, all I'm sure of is that no one is ever any more secure than their closest friend. Money and power and freedom are the most misunderstood terms in the world , and if we have good health and can take the time to enjoy the smell of roses I think we need to be grateful. I had a good attack done on me last week by some Gaul stones, that reminded me of the above. Last night I just marveled at how really nice it is to have a sip of coffee and contemplate my navel button even for a brief time. What an achievement at almost 62 I don't have lie about my age, and can be an over weight and a narcissist at the same time. Well at least it beats being senile. ------ Jim
