There is a sense beyond just reading body language, although that in itself gives vast amounts of info away about people. I used to be very perceptive but grew to hate knowing what I did because it was usually not good. So I turned it off and tried to know as little as possible about people beyond what they tell me. Call it respecting their privacy, and also not cluttering my life.

But there is a supernatural sense also. Such as seeing the future or being aware of unseen danger and avoiding it.
