I read your post and wanted to tell you to be sure to see Ponette. It was a movie that deals with death from a child's point of view and it was one of the best movies I have ever seen. I know you would like it. I cried all the way through it but felt wonderful at the end. And I let my children watch it too. It was the catalyst for some really good questions about death, and grief.
