Yeah, it's a derivatives based fund - it gets all its gains from futures options and was the #2 fund of 1998 (next to WWWFX). By the way, if you're interested in WWWFX, see my .sig my site's been profiled by Smartmoney.com and CBS Marketwatch.

Anyway, I am a bit shocked that it's so goddamn hard to find a good Nasdaq Index Fund/Nasdaq 100 fund. The initial investment for UOPIX is around $15K. But it has a sister fund (different share class, I guess) where the minimum is a more reasonable level.

UOPIX is designed to magnify the NASDAQ, I know there's another fund that also does that (to a lesser degree) in the top 20 funds of '98. I forget the name. As one journalist said, UOPIX is the "NASDAQ on steroids".

Rydex is nice but also prohibitive for me due to initial investment minimums. If you want to find anything resembling a NASDAQ index fund, all you have to do is look at the list of the best performing funds of 1998, which are tech heavy.
