HRP >> I believe they claimed sales of 500,000 units in a recent quarter.<<

I would suggest that the " OEM" Apple has had an impact on the numbers
of Ls-120 drives sold this last quarter. I could see where that along with
special pricing could add up to some 160,000 drives per month, but
this also points out how sluggish sales really are after all consider their
many years of availability and that the 4th quarter is the best quarter for computer
sales and that IOM didn't have their USB Zip drive available until well into the quarter. I will concede a limited success but suspect that this was at the expense
of capital. The reason why I say that is the wholesale pricing, their
wholesale prices haven't matched their special sale prices. I often see places
like the Cost-Co's et-al selling products for around the same as wholesale but
rarely under, when they're selling at substantially below wholesale than you know
they're dumping inventory.
IMO by now surely Imation must know of the impossibility of competition
against Zip and as stated in my last post an important telling sign was what
they did with the substantial amount of money they had received from the
sale of one of their divisions. I don't expect Imation to go away because the
prize for the winner in the race for dominance of the hi-density media category
will be nothing short of phenomenal, the market is huge and the second place
provider will be rewarded as well.

IMO Iomega has achieved domination to the point of being on the cusp of
claiming that prize. The fact still remains to be seen, but at every turn
competition is crumbling. It actually scares me to sound so bullish and as a
result I have heighten my awareness for any unforseen circumstance that
could be hazardous to their health.
