I think that "reading" people by listening to the timbre in their voice is well-accepted, cops and FBI agents are trained to do it, I read somewhere, don't remember where.
I do it, I can even tell a lot about people by the quality of their breathing during pauses in their speech. For example, there is a particular quality that delusional people have when they breathe that is really eerie. I occasionally get calls from delusional people, I have a yellow pages ad, I handle medical malpractice cases, and every so often someone who wants out of a mental health facility will call me to ask for help getting out. I can pick them out within seconds. I developed the knack when I answered phones for a suicide hotline, and later when I gave phone consultations for a women's center. I even had a really creepy sensation, sometimes, right before the person on the other end was about to speak, I'd think, "Now she is going to tell me that she was sexually abused as a child," and it would be true. This happened at least three times.
I don't think it is psychic, I think it is just experience. |
