<I don't understand why there should be so much trouble with alignment between case and MoBo. Isn't that what the ATX spec is for?>

Hi wily, long time no contact. Travels are completed, now to get busy on project. Gosh, you must be shivering from the severe cold your neck of woods are having.

Seems the reason for the ATX was to get more ports on board, mouse, keyboard, Parallel, com, serial (2),USB etc: thereby freeing up slots. To do this a reconfiguration was in order. The board had to be longer, taller if you are looking at it installed. The onboard ports are in upper left corner thereby giving exterior access to these.

ALL CASES ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL. Mine, looking on left side upright, has several threaded mounting screw holes on back side for different boards, AT, AT Baby, ATX. I placed board in case (while case was flat looking down inside), marked the 6 required mounting holes, screwed the standoffs in back of case, these are threaded male studs with female threaded holes in top. Gives the board about 3/8" clearance. Placed board on standoffs, put the fabric washers on board and then the mounting screws. Not sure this is right, but it looks good. Only problem, it won't boot. Waiting for different floppy and AGP Video card. Am sure any ATX case will be drilled/threaded for ATX board. Maybe not drilled for AT and AT Baby.

Later, /jw
