Kind of a surprise to log on and see so many messages on the NBR thread... I am a current employee working overseas for the company NBR just purchased, PESC. I think it is a good deal for both companies... NBR will gain entry in to a number of good international markets that they currently aren't in (Ecuador, Argentina, Malaysia, Australia, Pakistan) and gain market share in others where they already have a presence(Saudi Arabia, Oman)... Domestically NBRs gains a big presence in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico... I think NBRs with a fleet of more than 440 drilling rigs strategically placed throughout the world is well positioned to take advantage of the next upturn in drilling activity... the big question is how long will it be until activity picks back up again? My guess is that it's going to be 1 - 3 years... The internet has revolutionized overseas living... I even get CNNfn on my DIRECTV satellite... I think they do a great job with a lot less fluff and arrogance than you get on CNBC... I have to agree about the computer almost taking over my life... It seems like I am constantly online... haven't read a book in months... It was just a couple of years ago that I couldn't even get a newspaper and had to rely on shortwave radio for the news... USE MORE OIL... BBG
