But it is so TRUE... Nortel blows away anything LU has to offer. And for integrated Network Management (managing the pieces of equipment - not integrated billing services) Nortel is at least two years ahead of anything LU / ASND could put together.
This monkey on our back for the last 6 years, Optivity, will end up being the savior of Nortel's networking. It used to be 'your damned if you do and damned if you don't' on network management software. It was expensive to develop and maintain - especially on so many platforms as Optivity - and you could never charge what it costs to develop.

Well, now, Optivity is going to become interactive with the gear, and it becomes the 'Brains' of an intelligent IP routed network. It will be making QoS decisions based on type of equipment and bandwidth. Truely one step ahead of CSCO right now - for a centralized control of a distributed and non-homogeneous network... but you never hear much about Nortel on the CSCO thread.
