Glenn,
AOL is a Peter Lynch stock. Peter teaches us to buy what we know, hang out at the mall and count the traffic in parking lots. The high tech sector has eluded the Lynch followers because Pete says if you don't understand it, don't buy it. Investors buy a computer to follow their Lynch/retail/Beardstown ladies stocks and discover AOL. They also discover online brokers that charge $9.95 instead of $199.95. AOL is a company that they know and the added credibility of being added to the S&P 500 puts the stock in the radar scope of all these investment groups.
