If you haven't thought about the State controlling women's bodies than you haven't thought about the main problem with this issue. It is a conflict of rights between the mother, and a potential life. The mother's rights to her own body AND her genetic material are at issue. If you do not examine these rights you miss the main issue. If the you give the State the right to prevent abortion you give the State the right over women's bodies. If you give the State that right it means it can be used in insidious ways (as it has been in the past right here in the good ole US of A). You can have forced birth control, forced sterilization (which we have had) and even forced abortion. Because once the individual has no control she is at the mercy of whoever happens to have control over the State. I think that would make a mockery of our constitution.
