This I bet catches "the eyes of the street": Benchmarq Microelectronics sees flat Q1 revenues vs Q4 DALLAS, Jan 28 (Reuter) - Benchmarq Microelectronics Inc said on Tuesday it expected first quarter 1997 revenues to be flat or slightly below those of 1996's fourth quarter. Company president and chief executive Derrell Coker said in a statement, "It is likely ... that the slowed market conditions for portable computers that we experienced in fourth quarter 1996 will impact the demand for our battery management products in early 1997. "Overall, we expect total revenues to be flat to slightly down in first quarter as compared to fourth quarter 1996." The company also said in the statement its tax provision and consequently its net income for 1996 and 1995 benefited from the utilization of the company's net operating loss carryforwards. It said it did not expect such factors to materially benefit its tax provision in 1997. The company reported total net revenues of $12.1 million in 1996's fourth quarter against $8.1 million for the same period in 1995. ((-- New York newsdesk, (212) 859-1610))
