Glenn,

We agree. AOL has a business plan and it works. Others, such has AMZN, do not. Thought I would throw that in;-)

I've not been able to discern what part of AMZN is proprietary and protectable. Cramer claims it is doing the right things to own lots of new internet markets before anyone else. I wonder if it's more like staking out more territory than can be defended reasonably. I'm withholding judgement on AMZN.

AOL is starting from a position of strength - a profitable company with a large subscriber base and a steady income stream. Additions to its e-commerce portfolio leverage that subscriber base. What's so interesting to me in all of this discussion is that I don't subscribe to AOL and I do buy from AMZN. This is giving me a bit of a headache!
