tele, you make some good points, but brazil is a unique country
the people are very uneducated and very isolationist
they know very little about world events and economic systems
consequently they are very suspicious of anything that
reduces their income, power, or prestige

also, they have quite a history of being suspicious
of capitalists as well as fascists
that is why Lula, and uneducated labor leader
almost threatened cardoso in the last election
the communists still have support and many
are very suspicious of capitalism
and equate it with fascism
--they do not understand democracy
nor do they understand free market economy

that is why many of the politicians know they
can stay in power by giving cardoso a hard time
it is too bad--but that is the way it is
and that is why brazil might or might not
make through this crisis
i have a small position long tbh
