Van- I was recently in a discussion of ULBI vs VLNC and recall a few points. Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you, but I have done little research on ULBI. One argument for ULBI is that they have half as many shares to divide profits over, but for the same money you could buy twice as many Valence shares.

It appears that of all the companies that have licensed Bellcore technology, all use liquid electrolyte except for VLNC and ULBI. VLNC's are prismatic in shape, so that several cells can be arranged to tightly fill a cavity within a laptop or cellphone. I don't know if that is patentable or whether ULBI has a similar shape.

I was told that VLNC is the only licensee that BELLCORE chose to own a portion of. ULBI has been making other types of batteries and is only recently starting production of LiIon batteries.

I believe VLNC's transition from only R&D to manufacturing and from negative to positive earnings should cause a greater % gain.

I hope this was helpful
