J Fieb,
<<<a group of 6-8 highly talented hardware engineers involved in the development of high speed Fabric switches for use in Storage Area Networks. The technology will make use of Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet, and ATM. >>>
I read it differently. This group is not going to make FC switch, but some kind of 'Fabric switches' for use of integrating FC, GE and ATM, sort of like a bridge.
<<<The duties of this design engineering manager would involve: Creation, influencing, contributing to the product architecture and design of Fibre Channel fabric products from core ASICs to overall system perspective. Working closely with a group of highly motivated H/W and S/W engineers on a design team for ongoing and next generation products in Fibre Channel hub, switches, and WAN connections. Implementation of 1000BaseT and ATM H/W bridge functions. >>>
Again, this manager's duties include influencing, contributing to the product architecture of 'FC fabric products'. And he will be overseeing the design of FC hub, switches, and WAN 'CONNECTIONS'. In other words, these are interfaces, not FC switches itself. Nowhere in this job posting give me the explicit message that FC switch is going to be made. All IMHO.
