Annette, market makers (MM's) have nothing to do with AOL. It is traded on the NYSE. The problem with a lot of orders for "internut" stocks is that the volatility is so great, and the potential surprise so huge for the unwary buyer, and the possibility so great for unscrupulous market makers trading stocks on the NASDAQ (are you paying attention to this Voltaire?) to take advantage of the situation, that a number of brokerage houses and clearing houses are putting voluntary curbs and restraints on trading these stocks. Among these are increasing margin requirements and requiring verbal authorization to trade these issues.
