Not always. I had the privilege some time back of trying the same wine from four different "connoisseur" wine glasses. (One or two were Riedels, the others were... other. I believe the Impitoyables glass was in there.) The wine was only briefly in the glass, so leaching was not an issue. It's the shape of the glass which makes all the difference - the odorants and flavorants experience different concentration gradients. Riedel does a fair job of matching glass shape to the type of wine - depending on whether oxygenation and/or volatiles release should be fast or slow.

I did read an article on lead and wine some years ago. it takes a fair bit of lead to be genuinely toxic. It ain't plutonium or PCBs. Worrisome levels were reached in wine or brandy kept in leaded crystal decanters, but it took months.

Btw, lead ions are almost without flavor. Lead acetate is sweetish, but to truly appreciate the flavor you are eating too much :-)
