I missed the 930 at Jon's for 65. Maybe I can cancel the order
at Insight and save $15. At that price I'll buy two and
scrub the old ISA card on my CD changer.

TJT is what? Guess I didn't do my shopping too well <g>.
289 is a significant difference, though there is a $30
rebate on the retail box.

True, the Maxtor is 5400, and the IBM would no doubt
outperform it somewhat. In bursts, though, the 17
gig Maxtor should perform about like the a 13G drive at 7200
because of the higher data density. I've
seen benchmarks somewhere or other that bear this out,
more or less. Anyway, that's what got me off the dime
dithering between the speed and capacity. Like ZP, I
tend to store some very large files (including quite
a few of those Access databases <ggg>).

(7200/5400 = 1.33, or 33% faster vs 17.4/13.3 = 1.31 or
31% higher density. Should stream data at roughly the
same speed if same number of surfaces, which I don't know.)
