The comment about the ego being served by the companionship of pretty younger women was based mostly on observation. An awful lot of older men, especially where I live, do tend to look at a younger consort the way they would look at a fancy car; a decorative object to be displayed to the envious masses.

In my own very limited experience, extremely attractive women tend to have a deep-seated feeling that all they have to do to please is exist. This has, for me at least, a rather transient appeal, which has occasionally created some problems in the household. If a man wants to be fussed over, he's a lot more likely to get that kind of attention from someone who does not have fantastic good looks (there is of course a huge middle between gorgeous and ugly).

Not a subject on which I'm particularly objective, but I suppose that's true of most of us.
