Sgi's borg box is a very not compatable PC. Sgi ships it with SGI
Workstation NT 4.0. That is not Microsoft Workstation NT. The SGI
borg box will not run Microsoft Workstation NT 4.0. It will be
priced above other systems with similar CPU's. It should also cause
fratracide sales in SGI's unix workstations. Based on the relentless
pricedown of technology, I'd be reluctant to spend more dollars
today for a very proprietary PC.

Sgi is in bed with Nine because they own 28% of the company in the
form prefered shares convertable to common at 2.75 or 3.75.
Sgi does not have any marketing experience into PC sales channels
for their mitsubisi panel display. To maintain exclusive worldwide
marketing rights they have commited to some volume. Nine is needed
to get the volume sales in the PC market place.
Nine is ideally suited to market the SGI flat panel in the PC
market. Nine makes an excellent video card series in the revolution
IV. This card has a digital interface to the SGI display.

SGI has their own proprietary interface for the card. In that SGI
may not be forthcoming in inside of their PC box, it is possible
that linux will not run well on it. This for me is just one more
reason to avoid this closed box. Also their are linux Xserver
drivers for the number nine cards used to drive the SGI flat panel.
I can also report the the graphics engine on these cards when used
in linux with the hardware accelerated driver from xinside have what
I can only call astounding performance.

I am long on nine and therfore very high on nine. Anyone who looks
into the situation at nine has seen the opportunity to make a lot of
bucks.
