It is my experience that the pecking order of when you placed those calls and the size of your brokerage house has more to do w/if you will be exercised or not.

I too don't believe they will be automatically called when it is that
close...The caller of your stock would have to pay more in commissions and would probably just as soon want another stab at buying lower than the deal you are offering him.

Yes, it is my understanding that the theoretical value is the 5 steenies. You pays yer money and takes yer chances.
