BBG,
I believe in DELL and think it has an explosive future ahead... So my question is... would any of you liquidate a $100,000 portfolio consisting of DELL, AOL, FDX, NOBE,IOM,ARTT and Cash and buy 1250 shares of DELL?
You really need to try to analyze where each of these companies is going. Dell has proven it can generate money, they have laid out a growth path and a business plan to follow that path and it looks like they can continue until their market share grows to somewhere in the upper teens. AOL has a money generating machine as well, they have a growth path fueled by all those people getting on the internet daily and they seem to be following the right plan. FDX is an interesting company, and I think it is especially interesting to think about it as a secondary play on the growth of e-tailing. I would not be impressed by IOM, although I admit I haven't done due diligence here. I just don't like the boom and bust cycle of the disk drive makers and IOM gets tarred with that brush. The others I am not familiar with and can't offer an opinion. However, since you asked for personal responses, I would go 80-20 Dell to AOL or 100% Dell with that amount of money, depending on risk tolerance. If the sum were a lot bigger I'd do other things. Then I would hold on tight.
