Don - RE: He even named the company after himself! Could have called it ABC Austin Better Computers* or anything less egotistical.* The company was originally called PCs Limited - The name was changed to DELL Computer maybe around 1990. The original products were 'clones', assembled from generally available parts. Interestingly, at about the time that MSD put his name on the company, there was also a major shift upward in the quality of their computer products. resulting in the first tier image the company has today. I suspect that when MSD had his name on the box, he wanted a product he could be proud of.
