Different subject DELL Marketing! I spend time in a friends Radio Shack store several times a week, sometimes helping out. On Saturday last, a gentleman came in and we were discussing the new Micron computers that he had purchased, a 450Mhz and a 333Mhz unit for a total cost of some $4100+. Naturally, I couldn't resist working the conversation to my favorite, DELL. I ask if he had contacted DELL in the course of his evaluation of systems to buy. He said that he had, but the experience turned out to be less than satisfactory. Appearently, the sales consultant abruptly terminated the sales conversation after 20 minutes indicating that they had to go 'on to another' call as they had spent their allotment of time with this caller! Does anyone on the thread know if this is a company policy or an individual policy? That kind of experience will not help people to get the 'warm fuzzy' association with DELL that is so desired. Additionally, that kind of word of mouth advertising (IMHO) is not good. Here is a person that is actively selling Micron by word of mouth! He also mentioned a Consumers Reports issue that ranked MU the best in direct sales. I have not seen that article, and if someone has seen the article, just how did DELL fair? I hope that the DELL 'LURKER' reads this and passes it along! Regards, Ken
