I see from reading your post that you do not understand what I am saying. What you are making an analogy about are potential lives, what I am talking about is a life that has already started it's own time line because the sperm and egg have already joined to start a new life. At that point it is no longer potential humans but a real person. Nobody will meet that new person for maybe 9 months but he/she is a person none the less. You talk about the perils of pregnancy but there are also perils after the womb. Car crashes, plane crashes, contaminated McDonald's hamburgers! The perils are part of life and we should not be denied the chance to overcome them for any reason. If someone is fated to eat the dreaded McDonalds burger that is no reason to cut his/her life short before that point. The perils of the womb do not justify an abortion. We all have the right to overcome the difficulties that we will face in life. That is why the argument that these children are unwanted so let them die is so onerous. The new person would not say that given the choice they would rather not try! They want their life!!

PS As for populating the stars. LOL. How do you propose to do that? To travel fast enough to get there it would require traveling at faster than the speed of light. But Einstein says that is impossible because as we approach the speed of light the energy needed to keep pushing us faster approaches infinity. You would need to be able to cancel the mass of the ship and everything in it first. How do you propose to do that? Hyperspace?! LOL.
