DCH Ships Qual Units for Power Plant
PR Newswire - November 02, 1998 14:45
VALENCIA, Calif., Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- DCH Technology, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: DCHT) announced the shipment of two Robust Hydrogen Sensor qualification units for the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant. These units are the first "deliverables" in the program.
"This is a major step forward in completing this important program," said David P. Haberman, DCH co-founder and Vice President of Technology and Planning. "We expect the success of this program to lead to the installation of our equipment in power plants all over the world."
Last February, DCH was awarded a contract by Westinghouse to provide hydrogen sensors for the Russian nuclear power plant. Qualification activities include testing and evaluation of the sensors and monitoring equipment. Production shipments are expected to begin immediately upon the customer's completion of the qualification activities. This could occur as early as the end of November 1998.
Many experts believe that hydrogen sensors in nuclear power plants are absolutely essential. The disaster at Chernobyl was due, in part, to a buildup of hydrogen which ignited and destroyed part of the building, releasing radiation. Strategically placed sensors could warn of a hydrogen build-up before the concentrations become dangerous, and possibly avert a catastrophe.
One of the problems associated with installing sensors in nuclear power plants is in the sensors' ability to operate in a heavy radiation environment. The DCH Robust Hydrogen Sensor with its unique design and packaging will enable reliable operation in such a condition. >>>
I am hearing there will be announcements at the Shareholder meeting Jan. 22. I will be attending the meeting.
