Lucky Lady, You seem to have an odd understanding of what has happened for us when Jesus completed His work here. This dispensation of Grace that you push aside is what is saving us all. God's grace in Jesus Christ aside form the law. It was always God's intention to reach out to save all mankind, it was not an after thought because of the stubbornness of the Jews. God made promises to Israel because they would suffer in bringing God to man. They were the vehicle for Jesus to come to us. But the law is nothing except a bunch of precepts that could not save us from our sins. It is powerless to keep us from sheol. Jesus fulfilled the law because the salvation we have in Jesus Christ was/is God's intention when He gave the law. Paul says Jesus did what the law could not do, weak as it was. The law was weak, Jesus and His covenant of Grace is strong. He replaced the law, He is the law in our hearts. The Jews choked on the message that the Law of Moses was useless and Jesus Christ was the only way to God. They rejected Jesus saying "the old is good enough". Remember the parable about the wineskins? Jesus predicted that many would say the old is good enough. But the old is not and never was good enough. Shedding the blood of animals for forgiveness of sins that lasted for one year. Or accept Jesus Christ and have forgiveness of sins for eternity. You are confused by the trappings of religion. Whether it's the Jewish religion of the Law or the offshoot of Christianity, the Catholic Church. <<The "forget God's law" grace teaching is also rather new... I think it was Martin Luther.>> No it was Paul the Apostle who said forget the Law of Moses and preached the new dispensation of Grace through Jesus Christ. The promises are to the church today which is all the saved in Jesus. That is His church. Not denominations, not Israel the nation or the Jews, the people. Just the true believers in Jesus Christ.
