Hi Uncle,

I just have to laugh at this statement from AMD :

""We intend to support Direct Rambus as a high-performance memory solution for K7-based systems appearing in the second half of 1999," said a spokesman for Sunnyvale, Calif.-based AMD. "We have not announced a memory specification that will be used in the initial versions of K7 [appearing] in the first half of 1999."

They've screwed up so badly on the K6-2, that if they plan to have K7 production in the first half of '99, the production life of the K6-3 will be limited to a Thursday afternoon in April.

I have the greatest respect for the technical prowess of AMD, but when it comes to execution they are a disaster, with a proven long-term history

Alan
