An open question to FCC's Susan Ness:

In a recent RCR article you said, " A major concern I share with other U.S. government policy makers is that if the EU sanctions a single standard adopted by ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute), wireless consumers may be the losers in the end,"

Sorry, Ms Ness, but you are not in a position to talk about this subject. The US multi-standard approach has been a contributing factor in the US trailing Europe in digital mobile telephony. If we had "competing" standards in Europe I would actually have less choice or no choice at all on my travels. When I travel to Finland I have a choice of at least 2 operators, if we had multistandards, I may not get a compatible operator or a reduction in choice (and higher costs associated with it). So the US Government and its agencies really understand the word "consumer choice" do they?! She and the rest can speak for themselves and not me.

Funny how some do not look beyond their own borders or their "sponsors".
