Hi Chuzz<return on investment> At the beginning of last year, I borrowed $100,000 on visa cards, to begin trading. I borrowed, because my real estate holdings never generated any real cash, after repairs. I own 32 living units. At the end of last year, I had about $450,000 cash (at least) generated from the initial borrowing on the visa cards, after paying back the visa cards. I therefore think that trading can be an extremely profitable activity. And keep in mind, I was not any near where fully occupied by this trading. Even considering that the beta has changed considerably, I believe my returns this year will be higher. For one thing, I will be more secure with my extremely high use of margin; as you know, I deliberately create as high a margin call as schwab will let me. My timing is getting better, believe it or not. And this was my first year of trading stock. Am I a freek? (sp?) I don't think so. Are certain personaltiy types, able to trade when everyone else is running for the bombshelter? Yes, I think so. And, keep in mind, I have never even read a book on trading techniques etc. But I do have a wide background in a number of industries blah blah blah...and I have a crazy tough kind of nervous system, which I will not describe again, as I have gone into this before. You know, fighting inner city problems etc. Therefore, I try to encourage others to trade. Especially if they are older (my theory). My THOERY is that traders do not come necessarily from academic mind sets, but rather from a mind set of basically common sense, which I believe only comes from age. Greg, it seems to me, began trading very early. My own style, is more ruthless. I would say, for example, that sig, don, greg, trade with style. I would say that voltaire, myself, and probably venkie, tend to go for the kill. I'm just naming a few off the top. Now I have to go do landlord stuff, but I'll check in later. |
