Ed,

Those old farts that you have so much faith in have more important things to worry about than straightening out all the problems at the FDA such as stopping the abuse of the fast track approval system which was originally designed to get quick approval of life saving drugs (eg AIDS virus protease inhibitors) and not lifestyle drugs.

Currently our nation's priority is the Clinton witch hunt.

I am sure that you are very pleased to see our tax dollars spent on such important matters while the FDA claims to be understaffed(in regards to medical advisors)and under funded.

Our government readily lobs hundreds of cruise missiles on Iraq at $1,000,000.00 a pop. If one happens to land on Sadam's head its OK but it would be a terrible thing if the CIA were to hire an assassin to take care of the Sadam problem in a swift and "clean" fashion.

It's OK and acceptable if a few cruise missiles create some collateral damage killing innocent Iraqi people. And it's OK to allow Sadam to continue to murder anyone who internally threatens his power. Our policy of keeping this little Hitler in the Bagdad Bottle is no different than past policies seen in Eastern Europe, Korea, and Vietnam. Funny how these politicians can't seem to learn from the past.

We had our chance to finish the Sadam job during desert storm but Bush was more concerned about image than the future suffering of innocent Iraqis.

Politics before practicality.
