Easy Howard, easy. My initial thought was aimed at what affect globalization of world markets would have on local holidays. Face it, July 4th is not important to the British. If you globalize a market or whatever, then it suggests to me that it keeps on going w/o regard to local celebrations. Some say 24 hrs a day.

Of course, I see the market as more than a "gambling den".

My next to the last paragraph, that offended you so, was directed at the obvious fact that the U.S. and probably the world, is becoming less labor intensive due to the advent of computers, mass communications and the international labor pool that is becoming more available each day. I did not cause it, but it is a fact.

All kinds of folks who are willing to work get pushed aside. Dow just closed down its magnesium dept, due in part to foreign competition making it not profitable to use domestic labor. There are several folks looking for jobs as a result.Further,I have a friend in a dept in another large company that computerized and reduced from 29 employees down to 2.

I am just making an observation. I am not advocating getting rid of anyone. But the hard truth is that when a computer takes the place of dozens of people or some bright worker in a lesser developed country is willing to work for 1/4 of what a worker makes here, then times change to the disadvantage of the American worker. A lot of people will get hurt.

I did not say it is fair or desirable from our standpoint. I am just making an observation.
