As its been explained to me, daytrading does provide a useful service. It helps add a lot of liquidity to the marketplace. Liquidity is very important in capital markets in order to get people to take the risks necessary to keep our economy growing. Individual traders each adds their own small part to the liquidity equation just like one ant does his part for an anthill.
