Detroit has turned out some good oil burners, Cat and Mans seem to get more talk in the yachting end. Your closed freshwater loop makes it sound like your boat was designed especially for salt water.

I've got some idea of how a turbo works and also the cooling of the intake air. I helped a friend build a couple of rail dragsters and remember him packing ice on the intake manifold to get the cooler air for the run.

<<because the turbocharger is operated by the exhaust gasses turning the fan on the opposite side of the air intake...rpm may be in excess of 100,000 rpm within the turbo...keep fingers clear is usually a good rule...ha >>

And also think how hot the oil gets. Everyone I know with a turbo uses synthetic oil.
