To all, I just had my first real Metastock problem. MetaStock 6.52 caused a Win fault when opening and would not stay up. I tried reloading etc to no avail. I then noticed it would create the first chart that I had previously had open but was faulting as it opened the next one in the series (all on the initial boot up since I had a couple folders open at once the last time I was up and running).

I just cleared it up by going to the data downloader and deleting the data for the security that was the last one trying to open when the error occured. I then went back to MetaStock and tried again to open the program and received an "error opening file" message but it then opened and ran normally. I closed it down and brought it back up and it is running fine.

Just thought I would leave this tid bit in case anyone else has a problem like this. This fix only caused me to lose one stock's data which is also in another folder so no big deal as I can merge the data back over again. I had previously tried reloading and all kinds of other things and none of those helped. This one did.

The short version of the fix. Pay attention to the chart that is causing it to lock up, delete the data for that chart in the downloader folder, then re open metastock. It should give an initial fault since there is no data to make a chart but it will then bypass it and open. Assuming everyone is using smart charts, this clears that chart out of the opening sequence when you close the program again and it will work normally the next time you open the program.

Good Luck,

Lee
