Thanks for the info on the shoes, Croc.. I remember my brothers and father using the type of snowshoes you are talking about. They made their own, I'm not sure what type of wood they used for the frames, but the lacing was strips of moosehide. They were really quite durable, but too big for me to use.. I think I will look for something a little bit smaller, something in a size 6 Please...LOL ze gyp
