Interesting article, but nothing new, really. I accept as a given that there are people for whom ALL financial systems are stacked against. That doesn't mean it's impossible to make good gains as an individual investor. It DOES mean that investing solely on the ADVICE of sources like Barron's, Money, WSJ, analysts, etc. is probably a losing proposition.

I've personally tracked almost every "tip" I've ever received from a typical stock broker, good friends and casual aquaintances alike (I'm a scientist by training and enjoy the odd empirical experiment). Without fail, had I purchased each stock immediately after receiving such advice, I would've lost my shirt.

I do my research and weigh the value I place on each information source based on their reliability over TIME. There will ALWAYS be new opportunities in the market. Keeping your focus on fundamentals will pay off more in the long run than playing catch up on after-the-fact advice.
