Jim - Re: " How long did it take to debug a chip
when you were at Intel. Is it faster know that there are computer simulations?"

All the computer simulations, verifications, Design Rule Checks, etc. need to be APPLIED during the design and layout stages - BEFORE the device ever tapes out.

Any major debugging of "silicon" will set the project back anywhere from 6 months to a year or more.

Re: "if AMD has started production on the K7 "

NOBODY starts production of a major CPU until they have firm design wins and orders on the books.

What AMD DOES NOT need is a warehouse full of K7 wafers waiting for somebody to phone in an order.

Seen any PC manufacturers committing to the K7 lately?
