Steve, Games are by far the most strenuous application for PCs. You don't need 16 Mbyte 3D graphic cards for word processors and spread sheets. I'm actually kid of surprised that you didn't get the kid the 400 MHz unit.

I used his Celeron 266, and did the things I normally do. I couldn't tell the difference. Whatever speed advantage existed was minimal, at least using the applications I normally use. <
