In your BIOS settings, make sure the following two things are true:

In the integrated peripheral configuration area, both IDE controllers are enabled;

In the basic BIOS settings area, the secondary IDE controller gets scanned for attached storage (in the Award BIOS world, all four should be set to "Auto" at first, and as you grow impatient over time, set the ones you know are empty to "none").
