To all: We should have seen that coming. At Home needed a search engine. Dancers are picking partners to become monster internet companies. Who is next?

Could Yahoo buy MSNetwork? Lord knows MSFT does not need it . . .and Yahoo could use a worldwide portal readily available from all Windows PCs.

Microsoft is focusing efforts on Internet 3 [realtime video/audio].. .which is why they bought Comcast Cable.

AOL needs a broadband/cable partner. Any suggestions? T won't sell AtHome. . . it is the crown jewel in the TCI deal.

Time Warner's "Roadrunner" is a wannabe AtHome network for cable. . .could Mindspring be the portal partner? And what about a search engine for them. . .seems the trend. And when will they get the lead out and start rolling out across the country. At Home is picking up markets, while Time Warner is sitting on its hands.. . .with similar potential to At Home.

Infoseek/Disney could also use a portal [preferably cable]. . .Prodigy? and/or Cox? . . .

Are Wireless Broadband partners next?

I still believe that by 2002 the clear winners in the monster internet race will be A.T. and T. and Microsoft. They have gobbled up the majority of cable companies and will enjoy a windfall when set-top cable modems bring broadband internet into the family TV sets in the hundreds of millions of homes without personal computers.

I was there when it happened in the early 80's with Viewtron and A.T.and T. Families without PCs welcoming set-top boxes to do their banking, shopping, travel arrangements, socializing, info, news, games, etc. from the comfort of the family sofa with a remote control keypad and their own TVs. It worked great then and it will EXPLODE now.

The best man at my wedding [77 yrs old] wants a set-top box to get on the internet. If there was ever an explanation to 'why Amazon and others enjoy such a high valuation' that is it. Set-top boxes will change everything. Never forget that. [I still have several A.T.and T. "Sceptre" terminals circa 1983. . .may place in a museum someday.]

If you have more potential merger scenarios. . .let us hear them.
