Monday January 18, 9:28 am Eastern Time Company Press Release Unisys Takes Imaging And Workflow Strategy To Next Phase Strengthens commitment to Unisys InfoImage solution by acquiring rights to Eastman Software product BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 18, 1999-- As part of its overall strategy to enhance its suite of repeatable solutions, Unisys Corporation Monday announced it has moved to solidify the company's position as a leader in providing integrated solutions based on imaging and workflow technologies.
Unisys has obtained the right to independently develop, market and support Eastman Software Corporation's imaging and workflow software code. This arrangement replaces a previous relationship, under which Unisys licensed the imaging and workflow code from Eastman as part of the Unisys InfoImage family of products.
This action enables Unisys to incorporate its current line of InfoImage imaging and workflow solutions into end-to-end process management and improvement solutions that provide customers integrated information access. In addition to the application software, Unisys InfoImage solutions include consulting, implementation, integration, and full life-cycle support services using a proven methodology.
Unisys will continue its focus on developing and delivering mission-critical, enterprise-wide solutions for organizations in selected vertical markets, including financial services, public sector, transportation, communications, and commercial.
''By taking direct control of this proven core product, Unisys can be more responsive to constantly evolving customer requirements in a dynamic marketplace,'' said Sunil Misra, Principal, Unisys Worldwide Imaging Solutions.
''We will now be able to couple our strong product capabilities with Unisys proven vertical industry expertise and systems integration skills to deliver, more quickly than ever, comprehensive, next generation process management solutions that incorporate imaging, workflow, Web/Internet, COLD, knowledge management, document management, and ERP,'' said Misra.
Unisys enterprise approach to imaging has been endorsed by customers. Netherlands-based insurance company Hooge Huys has been using InfoImage software for more than five years.
''We have an excellent relationship with Unisys. Last year we won the prestigious IT Award for our mortgage and loan application, which uses the InfoImage document management and workflow application,'' said Rene Groot, manager of the IT Datacenter.
As part of its overall imaging and workflow strategy, Unisys will expand its sales channels by recruiting Value Added Resellers. In addition, the company will devote significant research and development effort to enhancing Unisys InfoImage product features and capabilities.
For example, Unisys now offers a 32-bit workstation that can be configured easily to match the way users work. It allows information to be organized at the desktop, according to the task at hand.
Further enhancements extend the Unisys Internet offerings to include configurable software for web access. For customers who require occasional participation in the workflow process, Unisys now provides Microsoft Exchange extensions, enabling Microsoft Outlook users to send information easily to InfoImage workflow system, monitor the status of their submissions, and get requested information back from the workflow system.
These Internet enhancements allow for the development of integrated solutions that leverage both InfoImage and web capabilities. Unisys will complement its service offerings and core product portfolio by leveraging its alliances and by aggressively adding product enhancements.
