Eidos plc Trading Update: Stronger Than Expected Levels of Sell Through Across All Territories
January 19, 1999 09:30 AM LONDON, Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Eidos plc EIDSY , Europe's largest publisher and developer of entertainment software, today announced that its results for the quarter ended December 31, 1998 will be released on February 25, 1999. Preliminary estimates for the quarter are that total units shipped across all titles were in excess of 6 million, after making a provision for returns. This is significantly above the Company's expectations and reflects stronger than expected levels of sell through across all territories. Titles released in the quarter were: Ninja, Tomb Raider 3, Michael Owen's World League Soccer, The Unholy War, Links 99, Gangsters and Thief: The Dark Project.
Although it is too early to forecast results for the year-end March 31, 1999, the Board currently expects that the results will show a level of profit before goodwill substantially in excess of current market expectations.
