Granville is basing his bearish outlook on his technical indicators and especially on his parabolic indicators. He sited that he is getting a strong sell signal(especially on the internet stocks). He also talked about when he called the top on gold some years back saying that using the same indicators that he used on that call are already stretched past that point. Art
