Remedy's Action Request System 4.0 Delivers Elegant New User
Interface

One-Step Upgrade Preserves Users' Customized Applications and Provides Immediate Benefits

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Remedy Corporation (Nasdaq: RMDY - news) today announced the availability of the Action Request
System® 4.0 (AR Systemâ„¢), Remedy's adaptable foundation for all of its enterprise applications. This major release offers Remedy's two million users immediate
access to an elegant new 32-bit user interface (UI), robust enterprise reporting capabilities and instant readiness for the Web.

Action Request System 4.0's new interface provides a host of benefits to end users, technicians and administrators. The new UI makes Remedy-powered
applications easier to learn with less training and simpler to use, allowing users of all skill levels to complete their tasks much faster. With AR System 4.0, it is now
even easier for administrators to rapidly prototype, deploy and iterate new applications for affordable, continuous optimization.

''Action Request System v4.0 is a big advancement. Our users are going to love the new user interface, and our administrators will be able to develop powerful
solutions faster,'' stated Sean Newman, Senior Developer for BellSouth.

New Task-Directed UI

AR System 4.0's new user interface was designed from the ground up to take advantage of the latest in Microsoft Windows and web interface standards and help
users be successful in completing their tasks without requiring training. The new UI features a split-window pane interface to reduce window ''pollution;'' new
client-side workflow so that users can fill out forms more quickly and efficiently; ''memory'' features that automate repetitive tasks, such as remembering the last
several queries run by the user; and an innovative new ''guide'' feature. Guides reduce training costs and increase productivity by walking users step by step through
their tasks. Not only is the new UI easy to use, but it is also powerful, accommodating the needs of all users, whether they are beginners, intermediates, or experts.

Beta tester, Anne Zbylut, a manager with Sutter Health, commented, ''Dialog Boxes and Guides help automate and accelerate training. It's like training wheels for
the applications.''

Enhanced Reporting for Better Decision-Making

Now included as standard shipment with AR System 4.0 is the Seagate Crystal Reports reader and the Remedy ODBC driver. With Crystal Reports, users can run
professional-looking reports directly from within Remedy applications for better data analysis and decision-making. The ODBC driver allows users to run reports
with any ODBC-compliant report writer, giving them a broad range of reporting solutions to choose from, including MS Excel and MS Access.

New Web Deployment Options

AR System 4.0 offers customers the unique ability to deploy any application to the web with no additional coding. All of the new user interface capabilities available
under Windows or Unix clients can be transferred to browser-based applications without any HTML or Java coding at all. This means that any changes made to an
application immediately appear on the web as well without intervention by an administrator. The same application accessed by a user on Windows and a user in a
browser will appear and behave the same. In addition, the new user interface allows use of embedded URLs in forms so that users can easily jump from a Windows
or Unix-based Remedy application into a web screen or another Remedy application on the web.

Easy Transition to AR System 4.0

AR System 4.0's productivity-enhancing features are available to every application running today on the AR System, including Remedy applications, custom
applications and third party applications. Upgrading to version 4.0 is easy, as Remedy separates the AR System foundation from the application. This unique
architecture allows organizations to make significant changes to Remedy applications, such as the market-leading Remedy Help Desk, while still gaining benefit from
major foundation upgrades such as AR System 4.0. All changes made are maintained during the upgrade. After upgrading the AR System foundation, customers
receive immediate benefits and can add powerful new features at their own pace.

Other Key Features

AR System 4.0 introduces over 100 new and improved features. Some of the other exciting highlights include OLE automation, support for attachments and
application shortcuts as well as an internationalized code base to simplify globalization and localization of Remedy applications. Moreover, the new system offers
performance improvements through the use of a fully 32-bit architecture and multi-threaded APIs. Again, customer applications do not need to be modified to
receive this benefit.

Pricing and Availability

Action Request System 4.0 is free of charge to supported Remedy customers, and is now available through Remedy direct sales and channel partners. Pricing is
$9,500 US per AR server. For pricing outside the US, please contact your local Remedy reseller. AR System 4.0 optimized applications from Remedy and Remedy
partners will be offered in the coming months.
