Jim...I've been long on T since '72 through employee purchase plan. If my memory serves me right, here is how T was divested.
In Jan. 1984, AT&T spun off 1 share each of the following RBOC's. Later, in 1996, AT&T spun off their NCR and Lucent companies.
Ameritech
Bell Atlantic
Bell South
Nynex
Pacific Telesis
Southwestern Bell
US West

Current RBOC's:
Ameritech; no change
Bell Atlantic: merged with Nynex
Bell South: no change
Pacific Telesis: spun off AirTouch, then later PacTel merged with SBC
SBC: acquired PacTel
US West split into two companies; US West Communications and MediaOne Group.

hope this helps.
Don
