Excite is to be part of At Home.......

Announced today At Home buys Excite!

With AT&T buying TCI they will own a large part of, maybe a controlling interest in At Home(ATHM). At Home is also buying its high speed backbone service from T. (Why doesn't that surprise me?) And of course World Net is the "standard" internet service being offered by T. At Home will be positioned as T's "premium" super high speed internet service. Currently At Home has 330,000 subscribers.

Now with IMAL currently featured on T's World Net page it makes a lot of sense that it will soon be featured on Excite which will be the portal for T's premium internet service -- AT Home. In other words with IMAL being featured on the World net service today I expect it to be featured on the At Home service (via Excite) soon. After all IMAL is offering discounts on AT&T's long distance, so would it make sense to not feature it on Excite?

I believe that World net has something like one million subscribers so At Home would add an additional 33% more who would have IMAL featured on their home page, or at least close by.

Well, as an IMAL long (and as an ATHM long) the merging of ATHM with Excite is certainly encouraging... and I guess we'll have to wait to see what develops next.

All IMHO,

Bill
