Heck, they could have bought AAPL and had billion or so left over to go to Atlantic City with.

You know, I've been watching my T shoot up today on the news of this At Home purchase of Excite (over $6, which is huge for T), and it's got me thinking.

Scenario:

Apple loses its favorable tax status and happens to experience a lull in earnings at about the same time. The stock price drops, and AT&T/TCI moves in for the kill, snapping up a company with an industry-leading hardware design factor and Internet-friendly software. $400 AT&T/Apple co-branded iMacs--complete with cable modem--for everyone who signs up for a year of At Home's cable Internet service.

This idea can't lose!
